Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. is seeking a civil/structural engineer in New Orleans to plan, coordinate, and execute engineering projects, delivering calculations, models, drawings, and technical specifications.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and ensure compliance with codes and standards. The role requires a Bachelor's (or Master’s) in Civil/Structural Engineering with relevant experience, along with proficiency in 3D modeling software and structural analysis tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or related field with 3 years of engineering experience, OR Master's with 2 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards and Civil/Structural design criteria.
  • Experience delivering Civil/Structural deliverables such as 3D models, steel and concrete drawings, connection details, BOMs and EWPs.
  • Experience in 3D structural analysis software to interpret results and develop design recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute civil and structural engineering projects from inception through delivery.
  • Develop calculations, models, drawings, and technical specifications; maintain project documentation.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain technical reports, analyses, and engineering documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in project meetings to integrate engineering solutions.
  • Conduct design reviews and assess contractor/vendor submittals for compliance with codes and standards.
  • Apply engineering software and analytical methods to evaluate, simulate, and optimize design solutions.
  • Continuously improve design processes and contribute to knowledge sharing within the project office.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Our office is located in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans, Louisiana. Employees in New Orleans mostly follow a hybrid schedule where they are required to work in office, attend in-person meetings or training and may also collaborate virtually. New Orleans is a popular tourist destination known for its rich history, architecture, cultural arts, music, and cuisine. Many great hotels, galleries, restaurants, and museums are a short walk from the office.

This position may be eligible for Freeport-McMoRan immigration work visa sponsorship.

What You Will Do

Under general supervision, plan, coordinate, and execute assigned civil and structural engineering projects and programs. Manage all phases of project delivery to ensure objectives are achieved safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with applicable standards and requirements.

  • Perform and coordinate engineering design activities for assigned projects, including the development of calculations, models, drawings, and technical specifications while maintaining complete and accurate project documentation.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain technical reports, analyses, and engineering documentation to support project objectives and design recommendations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional project teams and participate in project meetings to ensure engineering solutions are effectively integrated into project plans and deliverables.
  • Conduct design reviews and assess contractor and vendor submittals to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and company requirements.
  • Apply engineering software, modeling tools, and analytical methods to evaluate, simulate, and optimize civil and structural design solutions.
  • Continuously improve design processes and contribute to knowledge sharing within the project office.
  • Perform other duties as required.
What You Bring To Freeport
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or related Engineering discipline and three (3) years related experience in engineering OR
  • Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or related Engineering discipline and two (2) years related experience in engineering
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards and and Civil and Structural engineering design criteria.
  • Experience developing Civil and Structural deliverables such as 3D models, steel and concrete drawings, connection details, calculations, Bills of Material (BOMs), and Engineering Work Packages (EWPs).
  • Experience in 3D structural analysis software including ability to interpret results and develop design recommendations.

What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $93,000 - $127,500. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
