Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan in New Orleans seeks an experienced engineer to plan, organize, and manage designated structural or civil engineering projects, delivering designs and technical documentation within time and budget.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, review vendor proposals, and ensure compliance with codes and safety standards. This role offers a hybrid schedule and immigration visa sponsorship eligibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with 7 years of experience including lead or supervisory work.
  • Or a Master’s degree with 5 years of lead/supervisory engineering experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Ability to research and analyze complex information and draw valid conclusions.
  • Experience managing large or complex engineering projects.
  • Strong awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Ability to supervise, evaluate, train, and motivate employees.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Advanced degree and/or Professional Engineering (PE) Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, manage and execute designated engineering projects within time and cost constraints.
  • Perform detailed engineering design tasks including calculations, drawings and specifications.
  • Develop and prepare technical documentation and reports to support design decisions.
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Conduct design reviews and evaluate vendor proposals for codes and standards.
  • Utilize engineering software to model, simulate, and analyze components.
  • Assist in resolving technical issues during construction and commissioning.
  • Improve design processes and share knowledge across the project office.

Many great hotels, galleries, restaurants, and museums are a short walk from the office.

What You Will Do

Under limited supervision, plan, organize, manage and execute designated engineering projects and programs, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at appropriate cost. Perform detailed engineering design tasks for assigned projects, including calculations, drawings and specifications while maintaining accurate records throughout the project life cycle. Develop and prepare technical documentation and reports to support design decisions and project requirements. Participate in project meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate engineering solutions into overall project plans. Conduct design reviews and evaluate vendor proposals to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company requirements. Utilize engineering software and tools to model, simulate, and analyze design components. Assist in resolving technical issues during construction and commissioning phases. Continuously improve design processes and contribute to knowledge sharing within the project office. Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport
  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related discipline and seven (7) years of engineering experience including lead or supervisory experience
OR
  • Master’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related discipline and five (5) years of engineering experience including lead or supervisory experience
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Ability to research and analyze complex information and draw valid conclusions
  • Experience managing large or complex engineering projects
  • Strong awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Ability to supervise, evaluate, train, and motivate employees
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Advanced degree and/or Professional Engineering (PE) Certification preferred
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise with applicable industry standards and Civil and Structural engineering design criteria
  • Expertise developing Civil and Structural deliverables such as 3D models, steel and concrete drawings, connection details, calculations, Bills of Material (BOMs), and Engineering Work Packages (EWPs)
  • Proficiency developing and contributing to development of scoping documents, P6 schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and estimates
  • Expertise in 3D structural analysis software including ability to interpret results and develop design recommendations
  • Proficiency with structural design in high-seismic zones
  • Proficiency working in multi-disciplinary design teams
  • Experience creating and implementing engineering procedures and standards
What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$120,000 - $167,500. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional incentive compensation considerations based on company and individual performance. Additionally, this position is currently eligible for annual long-term incentive consideration. Long-term incentives are contingent upon authorized approval under the terms and conditions of the Company’s plan and award agreements. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
