MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital in Yakima, WA is seeking an experienced Facility Maintenance Engineer to perform building and utility system maintenance. You will ensure safety, reliability and efficiency of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems through preventative work and timely repairs.

Day shift, full-time position with opportunities to lead maintenance activities, respond to emergencies, and collaborate with the facilities team to improve operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; trade school education in related fields preferred.
  • Minimum five years of building maintenance experience; mechanical, HVAC or electrical repair required.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all preventative maintenance within the allotted time frame.
  • Maintains general building systems: electrical, HVAC, boiler, plumbing, and basic construction repairs.
  • Supports smooth department operations and service quality.
  • Improves appearance and function of facilities.
  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork and quality.
  • Organizes on-duty time to handle workload changes.
  • Uses good judgment for issues beyond written instructions.
  • Independently addresses general maintenance in area of responsibility.
  • Provides leadership and models high-quality customer service.
  • Collaborates with director to identify and implement process changes.
  • Reports daily summaries and safety issues to leadership; passes info to next shift.
  • Inspects buildings and safety systems to identify deficiencies.
  • Responds to emergencies involving utilities, life safety, and security.
  • Operates Building Management Systems and related controls.
  • Performs other related work as required.

Position Summary

The Engineer's primary responsibility is for the general maintenance and repair of the physical building, all of the utility systems and the various medical and supportive systems that fall under facility management/s area of responsibility. The purpose is to maintain a high level of safety and efficiency in the infrastructure and all the systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Performs all preventative maintenance assigned within the allotted time frame. Preventative maintenance will be assigned for general maintenance and/or within their specialty education.
  • Provides general building maintenance such as electrical maintenance, HVAC maintenance, boiler maintenance plumbing maintenance, basic construction material repair and maintenance such as sheet rock, base moldings.
  • Assists with the smooth and efficient operation of the department
  • Provides excellent service to improve appearance and function of facilities.
  • Assists in maintaining a culture that emphasizes continuous improvement, creativity, team work, high performance and quality.
  • Organizes on-duty time to accommodate workload, including unanticipated changes in workload
  • Uses good judgment in handling situations not covered by written or verbal instructions.
  • Has the ability and willingness to independently seek and perform work on general maintenance issues in their area of responsibility
  • Provides leadership and role models high quality and responsive customer service.
  • Collaborates and cooperates with director and assistant director for identifying and implementing changes in work processes.
  • Provides daily summary reports to leader for priority and efficiency evaluation. Reports all equipment, system, and safety issues to leader . Passes all pertinent information to the following shift.
  • Frequently inspects buildings, equipment, and safety systems using subject matter and industry expertise to note and correct deficiencies.
  • Responds to emergencies involving utility failures, building, life safety, and security.
  • Operates Computerized Building Management Systems and other system controls.
  • Performs other related work as required.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Building training and/or trade school education in specific pertinent fields preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in all aspects of building maintenance preferred. Mechanical, HVAC or Electrical repair experience required.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance required.

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $22.34 - $32.14 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
