Main Machinery Engineer will be responsible for the design, manufacture, test, delivery, and sustainment of VIRGINIA Class turbine generators. Challenging opportunities exist within the engineered components ship service turbine generator (SSTG) design group and construction group where engineers will practice engineering principles associated with power generation, rotating machinery, and controls to accomplish essential shipbuilding work.
The individual will be required to interface with EB Engineering and Design departments, Equipment Vendors, Customers (Naval Sea Systems Command and Naval Nuclear Laboratory), Shipyard Personnel, and Ship's Force. The ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings, technical reports, and procedures is required. Strong technical writing and communication skills are required. Travel will be required to support testing and build evolutions at Quonset Point, Vendor sites, Newport News Shipyard, and Naval shipyards.
