LG Energy Solution Arizona, Inc. is seeking an Engineer I, Smart Factory (AX/DX) to support automation and digital manufacturing in a battery production environment.

The role is designed for a recent engineering graduate or early-career professional eager to learn manufacturing systems and data-driven improvement. You will collaborate with production, quality, IT/MES, and vendors to support AX/DX implementation, validation, and continuous improvement while following safety and change-management

Responsibilities

• Support review of manufacturing processes and identify automation opportunities.

• Support troubleshooting and maintenance of AX/DX systems and production tech.
• Collect and analyze data for root-cause analysis and system optimization.
• Prepare project documentation and status updates; track risks and deliverables.

At LG Energy Solution Arizona, Inc., the Engineer I, Smart Factory (AX/DX) will support the implementation, validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of smart factory, automation, and digital manufacturing solutions across battery manufacturing operations. This entry-level role is designed for a recent engineering graduate or early-career professional who is eager to learn manufacturing systems, production technology, data-driven improvement, and cross-functional project execution. The position works under the guidance of senior engineers and collaborates with production, equipment, quality, IT/MES, parent headquarters, and external vendors to support stable operation and improvement of AX/DX systems.

Responsibilities

• Support review of manufacturing processes and help identify opportunities for automation, digitalization, data analysis, and AI-enabled improvement.
• Assist with deployment of AX/DX solutions, including remote operations, automated control, product traceability, fault detection, vision inspection, and preventive maintenance tools.
• Participate in design reviews, specification reviews, Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, functionality checks, performance validation, and production stabilization under supervision.
• Support troubleshooting and maintenance of AX/DX systems and related production technology, including PC-based control systems, markers, vision cameras, sensors, interfaces, and network-connected equipment.
• Collect and analyze manufacturing and system data to support root-cause analysis, system optimization, and improvements in equipment efficiency and availability.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, issue logs, test records, technical reports, standard operating procedures, and weekly or monthly status updates.
• Track project schedules, action items, risks, and deliverables while communicating progress to engineers, internal stakeholders, headquarters teams, and vendors.
• Support investment planning, budget tracking, vendor evaluation, equipment and software procurement, and lifecycle management activities as assigned.
• Follow site safety, environmental, cybersecurity, and change-management requirements during implementation and support activities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required.
• 0–2 years of relevant internship, co-op, academic project, research, or work experience in manufacturing engineering, equipment engineering, factory automation, manufacturing IT, data analysis, AI transformation, or a related technical environment.
• Coursework, project experience, or basic exposure to equipment systems, automation, programming, data analysis, control systems, industrial engineering, or manufacturing processes preferred.
• Interest in learning smart factory technologies, production systems, AI-enabled manufacturing solutions, and data-driven process improvement.
• Knowledge of battery manufacturing, automotive manufacturing, or highly automated production environments preferred, but not required.
• Ability and willingness to learn quickly, follow technical procedures, ask questions, and work effectively in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support production teams, parent headquarters, and global sites.
• Occasional domestic travel may be required to support training, suppliers, project execution, or collaboration with other sites.

• Ability to communicate technical information clearly with engineers, production teams, headquarters teams, and external vendors.
• Basic knowledge of PLCs, industrial networks, PC-based control systems, machine vision, sensors, markers, or production traceability preferred.
• Basic programming or data analysis skills using Python, C#, SQL, Power BI, Excel, or similar tools preferred.
• Interest in learning machine learning, advanced analytics, or AI-enabled manufacturing applications preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools for report writing, presentations, project tracking, and data analysis.
• Ability to work in a multicultural or globally distributed organization preferred.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Korean preferred, but not required.
