K&A Power Group in Cary, NC is seeking an Engineer I to join our team. You will contribute to substation, transmission, and distribution projects, performing design, surveying, and field work as part of a collaborative engineering team.

The role requires a bachelor’s in engineering with 3+ years’ experience, proficiency in GPS/GIS, AutoCAD, and SAP, and willingness to travel to construction sites. We offer a competitive pay range and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent education with 3+ years relevant experience.
• Knowledge of GPS & GIS systems and SAP.
• Experience with electrical overhead and underground distribution lines.
• Ability to travel to construction sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Determine customer needs/facility requirements and prepare feasibility studies including conceptual design and preliminary cost estimates.
• Develop final design, cost estimates and schedule.
• Prepare equipment and materials specifications.
• Support and train junior engineers through mentorship and day-to-day job shadowing.
• Prepare AutoCAD drawings for bidding/awards.
• Perform field surveys and stakeouts; acquire permits and approvals.
• Coordinate design and work processes among customers, contractors, utilities, and municipalities.
• Provide surveying and GPS support services including preliminary surveying, layouts, and final surveying maps.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Engineer I to join our team at K&A Power Group in Cary, NC.. Engineer Services include but are not limited to the following:

• Determine customer needs/facility requirements and prepare feasibility study to include conceptual design and preliminary cost estimate.

• Prepare equipment and materials specifications.
• Support and train junior engineers through mentorship and day to day job shadowing
• Prepare Auto CAD drawings – to be used to bid/award construction.
• Perform field surveys and stakeouts.
• Acquire necessary permits and State/County/Municipality approvals.
• Coordinate the design and work process between the customer, contractors, trades, other utilities, municipality and others involved in the process.

Engineer will also be responsible for the following Survey and GPS Support Services

• Provide alternatives to completing specific projects,
• Complete preliminary surveying and layouts,
• Conduct field measurements and/or field survey to produce base plans for engineering design.
• Plan, conduct and document the final surveying maps:
• Develop final surveying, maps and layouts,

Utilize computer services as required in surveying and mapping activities

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Equivalent Education with 3+ years relevant experience required.
• Knowledge, experience and skills needed to review project plans, specifications, contract enforcement, and applicable technical standards, OSHA and other regulatory statutes.
• Detailed work experience in electrical overhead and underground distribution lines
• Knowledge of GPS & GIS systems are Required
• Knowledge of SAP
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Microsoft Word and Microsoft Project or Equivalent
• Must be willing to travel to construction sites on a day to day basis, attend meetings as needed

Pay Range $60,000—$70,000/year
