Job summary

The Talent Mine is seeking a Water Program Engineer to lead strategic planning for large-scale water and wastewater infrastructure for high-capacity data center projects. This role focuses on sustainable resource use and efficient design for world-class facilities.

Responsibilities include developing water planning estimates, evaluating total cost of ownership, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver compliant, cost-effective utilities for complex sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, or chemical engineering.
  • 5+ years in planning, design, and construction of utility projects, with 4+ years in data-center utilities.
  • Familiar with cloud-based productivity tools (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
  • Experience coordinating cross-discipline teams (structural, civil, IT/Telecom, mechanical, electrical, architectural).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Review site due diligence and site campus plan studies.
  • Develop water planning estimates and total cost of ownership calculations.
  • Determine the optimal site build-out strategy for water and wastewater.
  • Review AE drawings and hydraulic models.
  • Analyze utility usage data and present recommendations to management.
  • Review onsite and offsite water infrastructure designs.
  • Coordinate scope with multiple trades to align deliverables.

The Talent Mine has been hired to find a specialized Water Program Engineer to focus on the strategic planning of large-scale water and wastewater utility infrastructure. You will ensure the sustainable and efficient use of natural resources for the world's most advanced facilities.

Job Description:

This role is focused on the strategic planning, technical development, and design review of large-scale water and wastewater utility infrastructure for high-capacity data center projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review and assist in the technical development of Site Due Diligence and Site Campus Plan studies.
    • Develop water planning estimates
    • Develop total cost of ownership calculations and determine the optimal site buildout strategy
    • Find cost and schedule effective ways to deliver water and wastewater utilities to the project
    • Assist in enforcing water policy approach
    • Review A/E calculations and hydraulic models
    • Review utility agreements and recommend technical guidance and verbiage.
    • (With oversight) Develop availability model inputs and internal availability requirement documentation.
  • Analyze utility usage data, identify optimizations and help present recommendations to management.
  • Review AE design drawings for onsite and offsite water and wastewater infrastructure
Qualifications:
  • Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 5+ years of experience with a minimum of 4+ years of experience in planning, design, and construction of utility projects.
  • Familiarity with common cloud-based productivity tools (spreadsheets, docs, slides).
  • Experience and general knowledge of cross discipline teams: structural, civil, IT/Telecom, mechanical, electrical, architectural.
  • Practical knowledge of large scale, complex data center infrastructure.
  • Practical knowledge of utility treatment and distribution systems.
Ideal Candidate Description:
  • Civil, Mechanical or Chemical Engineer with a positive can‑do attitude and seek to overcome unique design challenges.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced environment with rapidly changing inputs and high levels of uncertainty
  • Experience planning utility capacity for large commercial or industrial facilities.
  • Experience developing and reviewing design drawings for treatment and distribution projects (e.g. pump stations, pipelines, storage).
  • Great communicator with the ability to express complex ideas in a concise manner through all forms of digital mediums (design drawings, presentations, video conference) both internally and with external parties.
  • Highly organized and able to adapt to changing project priorities in a fast paced environment to ensure projects stay on schedule.
  • Strong work ethic that internal and external team members can depend on.
  • Experience coordinating scope with multiple discipline trades (Architecture, telecom, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and structural)
  • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Experience with utility scale and project planning inside and outside of the US.
  • Experience with statistical and availability analysis.
