Job summary

The Hartford Steam Boiler, a Munich Re subsidiary, seeks an Engineer for the Equipment Technology Lab in Hartford. You will transfer and analyze data across platforms, create actionable improvements, and act as a subject matter expert on data processing and storage best practices.

Ideal candidates have a BS in Engineering or CS, 5+ years in engineering/tech, and experience with Python, R, C/C++, SQL, Linux; IoT integration is a plus. Hybrid work with some office and remote days is offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Computer Science required.
  • Master's degree in Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • 5+ years in Engineering or Technology.
  • Experience with Python, R, C/C++, SQL, Linux.
  • IoT technologies experience a plus.
  • Insurance industry knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

Location: Hartford, CT Office. This is a hybrid role, with a schedule of 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely each week.

Job Description

The Engineer - Equipment Technology Lab will be responsible for transferring & analyzing data from various platforms and software environments, creating actionable changes and improvements to the business. Provides subject matter expertise on data processing, analysis and storage best practices. Participates in providing innovative project and business efficiency solutions and has strong team collaboration. Researches and identifies emerging equipment technology trends. Ability to communicate written and verbal data and technology outcomes effectively.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Computer Science is required
  • Master's degree in Engineering or related discipline is a plus
  • 5+ years of experience working in Engineering or Technology
  • Experience with one or more programming languages including but not limited to: Python, R, C/C++, SQL, Linux
  • Experience with integration of IoT technologies a plus
  • Experience or knowledge of the insurance industry a plus
