Job summary

TRIUMPH, based in Yakima, WA, seeks a seasoned EHS professional to lead environmental, health, and safety programs for aerospace manufacturing and MRO activities. You will drive hazard analysis, incident investigations, and regulatory reporting while collaborating with HR, Operations, and Facilities to ensure a safe work environment.

The role requires 3–6 years of EHS experience, a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and strong knowledge of OSHA/WISHA regulations.

Based in Yakima, WA, Triumph Actuation and Landing Gear Systems designs, manufactures, assembles, tests, and provides MRO services for aerospace products and systems that include hydraulic actuators, hydraulic valves and manifolds, hydraulic fuses, and repeatable release holdback bars and employs more than 240 employees. Triumph Actuation Products and Services - Yakima is an industry leader in landing gear actuation, providing actuation components to every major aircraft manufacturer. Triumph Actuation Products and Services - Yakima is also the sole supplier of the critical repeatable release holdback bars used for launching US Navy fighter jets from aircraft carriers. TRIUMPH has provided every holdback bar since the F-14.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Safety Programs & Leadership Support

• Champion a proactive safety culture focused on hazard awareness, safe behaviors, and continuous improvement.
• Lead the Safety Committee and ensure effective meetings, follow‑through, and engagement in initiatives.
• Support emergency preparedness through planning, drills, equipment readiness, and documentation.
• Administer core safety programs such as lockout/tagout, mobile equipment, contractor safety, and safe work practices.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, conduct root cause analysis, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and verified.
• Manage the return‑to‑work and accommodation process in partnership with HR and site leadership.

OSHA & WISHA/DOSH Reporting & Compliance

• Maintain OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 logs and complete electronic submissions.
• Determine OSHA recordability for injuries and illnesses.
• Complete time‑sensitive WISHA/DOSH notifications for fatalities, inpatient hospitalizations, amputations, or loss of an eye.
• Prepare DOSH incident reports and support inspections, inquiries, and documentation requests.
• Serve as the site expert for OSHA and WISHA/DOSH recordkeeping and regulatory interpretation.

Environmental Compliance & EMS Support

• Ensure compliance with OSHA, WISHA/DOSH, WA EPA, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
• Maintain and support the Environmental Management System (EMS).
• Evaluate environmental impacts and support improvements in waste reduction, air quality, and overall environmental performance.

Risk Assessment & Hazard Evaluation

• Conduct workplace risk assessments using established methodologies and tools.
• Identify and mitigate safety and environmental hazards across equipment, processes, and work practices.
• Perform EHS inspections and audits; track, implement, and verify corrective actions.

Training, Communication & Collaboration

• Deliver EHS training including new hire orientation, refresher courses, and required certifications.
• Communicate safety expectations and compliance updates to employees, supervisors, and leadership.
• Reinforce EHS concepts to support understanding and accountability across all departments.
• Collaborate with HR, Operations, Facilities, Corporate EHS, and other stakeholders while managing documentation and priorities.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Physical Sciences, Business Management, or a related field.
• 3–6 years of progressive professional EHS experience supporting complex industrial operations, including responsibility for regulatory compliance, incident investigations, safety program administration, and environmental performance.
• Experience must demonstrate full competency across core EHS functions, including independently interpreting OSHA and WISHA/DOSH regulations, managing reporting requirements, leading risk assessments, and supporting cross‑functional teams.
• Equivalent experience may be considered when it clearly demonstrates the ability to meet the full scope and complexity of the role.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications such as REM, CIH, ASP, CSP, or CHMM.
• Experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or comparable management systems.
• Aerospace manufacturing experience.
• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).

Physical Requirements

• Ability to walk, stand and sit for extended periods of time
• Exposure to high noise levels, moving equipment, airborne particles, fumes, dust, oils, and cutting fluids.
• Regular use of voice, vision, hearing, and manual dexterity required.

Position Pay Range: $90,200 - $115,000. Hiring range and position pay range may differ, commensurate with education level, qualifications, and experience.
