Job summary

Flowserve Corporation seeks a data governance and standards specialist to lead the creation and maintenance of global engineering standards and data management practices. You will coordinate with engineers worldwide to ensure consistent item/BOM documentation and governance.

You will drive data transformation projects, oversee classifications, and guide data quality initiatives across programs, ensuring reliable engineering records and library governance.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial experience.
  • Experience with PLM or similar data management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering processes, systems, and design tools.
  • Familiarity with engineering standards and international conventions.
  • Analytical and data-analysis skills; basic programming or scripting beneficial.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement Process tools.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with global engineering SMEs and stakeholders to establish item/BOM and document standards for consistent communication of engineering data.
  • Develop, document, implement, and maintain global engineering standards, procedures, and data governance practices.
  • Lead coordination with external partners on data transformation activities, including planning and issue resolution.
  • Manage assigned projects from planning through completion and drive data quality improvements.
  • Drive development of item/BOM, document, and classification standards to enhance governance and usability.
  • Use data analysis to improve classification logic, attribute definitions, and trusted records.
  • Lead data cleansing, enrichment, consolidation, and deduplication to build a reliable golden record.
  • Provide expert guidance on part classification and data structuring per international standards and governance.
  • Establish and govern global parts libraries and material libraries to support standardization and reuse.
  • Define, maintain, and govern material, quality, and process requirement libraries.

Essential Responsibilities
Global Standards & Procedures
  • Collaborate with Engineering subject matter experts and cross-functional stakeholders globally to establish
    item/BOM and document standards that ensure consistency and effective communication of engineering design
    information delivered through items, BOMs, and related documentation to internal and external customers.
  • Develop, document, implement, and maintain global engineering standards, procedures, and data governance
    practices.
Data Structuring, Part Classification & Technical Data Preparation
  • Lead coordination with external partners on technical data transformation activities, including planning,
    progress tracking, issue resolution, and overall support.
  • Manage assigned projects and initiatives from planning through completion.
  • Drive the development and continuous improvement of item/BOM, document, and part classification standards
    to enhance the consistency, usability, and governance of engineering data.
  • Use data analysis to identify improvement opportunities in classification logic, attribute definitions, legal value
    lists, deduplication, and the creation of trusted engineering records.
  • Lead data cleansing, enrichment, consolidation, and deduplication efforts to improve data quality and establish
    a reliable golden record.
  • Provide expert guidance on part classification and data structuring in accordance with international standards
    and internal governance requirements, ensuring consistent, accurate, high-quality, and well-structured
    engineering data across the organization.
  • Establish and govern global parts libraries, including CAD/item relationship, to support part reuse, standardized
    item creation, and supply chain needs.
  • Define, maintain, and govern material, quality, and process requirement libraries to ensure alignment and
    consistency across engineering systems.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and cross-functional stakeholders globally to align on standards, workflows,
    and engineering data requirements, resolve issues, and drive adoption.
  • Provide responsive, customer-focused support to internal and external stakeholders while fostering effective
    communication and collaboration across engineering teams and cross-functional partners.
Data Integrity & Quality Control
  • Maintain high levels of data integrity through regular audits, data validation, and quality checks to ensure
    accuracy and compliance with established standards.
  • Analyze engineering and technical data to identify patterns, inconsistencies, root causes, and opportunities to
    improve data quality, governance, standardization, and part reuse.
Reporting & Documentation
  • Prepare and present reports on findings, trends, and key metrics to stakeholders.
  • Ensure clear and consistent documentation of data structures, classifications, standards, and methodologies to
    support compliance, transparency, and effective knowledge sharing.
Change Management
  • Act as an effective change agent, driving adoption and long-term acceptance of company-wide engineering
    standards, practices, and procedures.
Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, with a minimum of 5 years of industrial
    experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with PLM or similar data management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering processes, systems, and design tools.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering, industrial, and international standards.
  • Strong analytical and data analysis skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and support data-driven
    decision-making; basic programming or scripting skills are beneficial.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the application of Continuous Improvement Process tools.

    problems and meet business and stakeholder needs.
