Job summary

Old Dominion Electric Cooperative is seeking an Electrical Engineer to provide support for transmission and generation systems from Glen Allen, VA. You will assist senior engineers, perform basic analyses, and help coordinate field inspections, testing, and project documentation.

The role requires a BSEE, strong communication, and the ability to work with contractors and internal teams in a high-voltage environment.

Incorporated in 1948, Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC) provides reliable, cost-effective, environmentally balanced, wholesale electric services to our 11-member distribution cooperatives in Virginia,Maryland, and Delaware. Our core business is generating,purchasingand delivering electricity to our members. ODEC is a not-for-profit generation and transmission cooperative thatoperatesfor the benefit of our members, who are our owners.Our office is located in Glen Allen, Virginia.

Purpose of Job:

Provide electrical engineering support for transmission and generation systems, with a primary focus on transmission-related assets and projects. Support engineering, design review, project development, and field activities associated with capital improvement and maintenance projects.Assistsenior engineers with other departmental tasks such as member interconnection, transmission planning, communications, and other duties. Work collaboratively with internal departments, consultants, and contractors to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of transmission infrastructure and related assets .

Essential responsibilities include:

• Assistother engineers with technical support

• Support Engineering, Planning, and Member Activities
• Participate in planning discussions for capital improvement and maintenance projects.
• Review engineering consultant designs, estimates, and technical documentation.
• Assistindevelopmentof scopes of work and supporting project documentation.
• Participate in bid evaluations and procurement support activities.
• Gain familiarity with project lifecycle phases, includingconceptual engineering, detailed design,procurement,and construction support
• Develop working knowledge of coordination with: Engineering teams, contractors, consultants,and internalstakeholders
• Support NERC compliance efforts byassistingwith documentation, reviews, and audits

• Assistwith field inspections and site visits in transmission and generation environments.
• Track field issues and support coordination of issue resolution.
• Collect and organize field reports, contractor documentation, and safety records.
• Assistin verifying construction work against engineering drawings and specifications.
• Support coordination with contractors and field personnel under supervision.
• Assistwith review of turnover packages, includingdrawings, bill of materials, and vendor documentation.
• Support project documentation and recordkeeping.
• Maintain and organize engineering and project documentation.
• Supporttracking ofproject data, correspondence, and deliverables.
• Assistwithmaintainingcompliance with corporate records and management standards.
• Support documentation of technical issues, testing results, and project activities.

Work Experience :

• 0 to 6 months of experience in electrical engineering.
• 0 to 6 months of experience in power generation, preferred.

• Must be willing to quickly learn and follow safety requirements.
• Basic ability to organize and prioritize own activities, exercise sound timemanagementand work methods.

• Demonstrated working knowledge of CAD or other draftingapplication.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Suite of Products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Project.
• Familiarity with engineering methods.

Education :

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

• Travel isrequiredin this position.
• This position is frequently required to perform fieldwork, which may involve walking over rough terrain, during all types of weather conditions.
• The positionis frequently required tospenda number ofhours outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions, and will typically be in a high-voltage substation or power plant.
• The employee should have the capability to walk on uneven surfaces.
• The employee must be able to climb ladders, potentially several feet high, and walk on platforms.
• This position requires some heavy lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.

Compensation range: $37.14/hour to $38.14/hour
