Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States is seeking a lead electrical engineer to guide the FORD Class Valve Actuator Engineering team. You will support development of a new electro-mechanical actuator series and in-service actuators, designing motors and controller circuit card assemblies.

This role requires hands-on testing, EMI and MIL-STD-1399 qualification, root-cause analysis, obsolescence management, and mentoring of junior engineers. Travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited engineering degree with 7–9 years of relevant exempt experience.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Familiarity with motor controllers and circuit card design.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineer for FORD Class Valve Actuator team.
  • Support development of a new electro-mechanical actuator series.
  • Support in-service electro-mechanical actuators.
  • Design actuator motors and controller circuit card assemblies.
  • Conduct EMI, MIL-STD-1399 electrical power tests.

Job description

  • Serve as the lead electrical engineer for the FORD Class Valve Actuator Engineering team
  • Support development of a new electro-mechanical actuator series
  • Support in-service electro-mechanical actuators
  • Design new actuator motors and controller circuit card assemblies
  • Conduct electrical qualification, including EMI, MIL-STD-1399 electrical power, motor characterization, and operational testing
  • Support root-cause analysis of technical issues with in-service actuators
  • Manage obsolescence of in-service and future actuators
  • Mentor and develop junior electrical engineers
  • Research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience; or Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience; or Ph.D. and 4 years of experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Familiarity with motor controllers and circuit card design
  • Familiarity with induction and permanent magnet motors
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time
