Job Opportunity: Marine & Bridge Structures Inspector & Team Leader

Moffatt & Nichol, a leader in waterfront infrastructure projects, is seeking an Engineer with commercial diving and bridge inspection Team Leader certification and experience. This role involves performing structural inspections above and below water, preparing reports, and developing repair designs. The position is based in Baton Rouge (preferred) or New Orleans, LA, with occasional travel to waterfront destinations domestically and internationally.

The successful candidate will work with a professional team providing consulting services primarily in the Gulf region. Modern workflows including field tablets, UAS, nondestructive testing, marine mapping, and modeling tools will be utilized.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site investigations of marine and bridge structures
• Ensure scope and schedule adherence
• Prepare inspection reports, proposals, and technical documentation
• Assess load capacity of deteriorated structures
• Assist in civil and structural design tasks

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
• Certified Commercial Diver (e.g., ADCI, HSE, DCBC, IMCA, ADAS) or military equivalent
• Underwater Bridge Inspection certification
• Team Leader certification
• 1-5 years diving and inspection experience; 2+ years bridge inspection
• Valid driver's license; willingness to travel
• Possession or eligibility for TWIC and other client badges

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements

The role involves both office and field work, including diving and exposure to extreme elements. Physical fitness is essential for carrying equipment, climbing, and navigating boats.
