Job summary

HyAxiom, Inc. is seeking a Control Center Engineer to join the Service organization. You will monitor the worldwide fleet of hydrogen fuel cells, respond to alarms, document work orders, and guide field technicians in remote or on-site repairs.

You will balance a flexible schedule across shifts and days, develop plans to improve fleet performance, and communicate outages to senior management while maintaining high reliability and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Receive and document fuel cell alarms and generate work orders for field staff.
  • Perform remote tuning of fuel cells and ancillary equipment to optimize performance.
  • Initiate remote starts during off-peak hours and coordinate with field technicians.
  • Notify senior management of outages and fleet issues.
  • Collaborate with monitoring systems to assess fleet health and support field service.
  • Develop plans for achieving short- and long-term objectives.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving and teamwork across shifts.
  • Maintain trust and cooperation within the team and with customers.

Job Information

The Control Center Engineer reports to the Service organization at HyAxiom. The Service organization is responsible for customer support, spare parts management, service engineering, service contract execution, and field service of HyAxiom’s stationary fuel cell fleet. HyAxiom’s state‑of‑the‑art Control Center monitors the worldwide fleet of fuel cells. The Control Center Engineer is the first point of contact for customer inquiries through phone and email, and is first to receive fuel cell alarms from the remote monitoring system. The Control Center Engineer will respond to all customer requests, document all fuel cell alarms, and provide work instructions for the Field Service Technicians that will complete repairs at the fuel cell locations. Due to the nature of the worldwide service business, the Control Center Engineer must be willing to accommodate a flexible schedule, with availability on all shifts and all days of the week.

Role & Responsibility
  • Receive alarms from fuel cells and use manuals and troubleshooting guides to provide comprehensive work orders for field service personnel.
  • Take remote action when possible to tune fuel cell and ancillary equipment to optimize system performance.
  • Conduct remote fuel cell starts. Due to the economic factors of our business, fuel cell starts are usually performed remotely, at off‑peak electrical demand hours, by a control center engineer.
  • Communicate all fuel cell outages to the HyAxiom FCA Senior Management team.
  • Work with new and existing monitoring systems to analyze fleet health, troubleshoot systems, support field service, and optimize power plant performance.
  • Develop plans to meet the objectives of short and longer‑term assignments.
  • Demonstrate effective problem‑solving skills.
  • Encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members and beyond.
Job Requirement
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an associate’s degree plus 3 years of experience in field service engineering, systems engineering, troubleshooting, or system controls.
  • Bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • 0–3 years of experience in field service engineering, systems engineering, troubleshooting, and system controls.
Knowledge & Skill
  • Robust process and systems understanding, know‑how and expertise.
  • Working knowledge of field service engineering processes.
  • Knowledge of relevant troubleshooting techniques and system controls.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Adaptability to complete various tasks as business needs change.
