Job summary

Newmark is seeking a skilled Building Operations Engineer to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair the building’s mechanical, electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems. The role requires five years of operations experience, a CFC certification, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with sound judgement.

You will be responsible for preventative maintenance, safety compliance, and coordinating external contractors to ensure uninterrupted building operations for tenants and management.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of building operations engineering experience.
• CFC certification in high‑pressure discipline.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and make decisions.
• Proficient computer and e‑mail skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair building mechanical, electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Conduct periodic general preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
• Respond to tenant requests in safety, plumbing, mechanical, electrical and environmental needs.
• Prepare and maintain maintenance logs and use preventative maintenance/work‑order software.
• Coordinate contractor, tenant and management approvals for outside work orders.
• Ensure safety of tenants and continuous operation of the site.
• Adhere to all operating procedures and assist snow/ice removal operations.
• Maintain organized building files.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

The role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing building operating systems, or arranging for repairs for all building systems on‑site. May be assigned to a single building as the sole engineer under a limited property size and scope. Must have reliable transportation and be available for after‑hour emergency calls.

Essential Job Duties

• Responsible for all preventative maintenance, necessary maintenance and repairs to the buildings mechanical, electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Conduct periodic general preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems, including lubrication, adjustment, cleaning, replacement of consumable parts and periodic testing of equipment.
• Respond to tenant requests in the areas of safety, plumbing, mechanical, electrical and environmental needs.
• Prepare and maintain maintenance logs and records and use preventative maintenance and work‑order software systems.
• Coordinate contractor, tenant and management approvals for work orders that require an outside contractor.
• Perform all assigned work to ensure safety of the building’s tenants and continuous operation of the site.
• Adhere to all written operating procedures associated with the site.
• Assist in snow and ice clearing operations, coordinating plowing and salting activities by outside vendors.
• Maintain organized building files.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills, Education and Experience

• High School Diploma.
• Minimum of five (5) years of previous building operations engineering experience.
• CFC certification in high‑pressure discipline.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and make decisions.
• Proficient computer and e‑mail skills.
• Holds any necessary/required licenses.
• Completion of required safety classes that pertain to specific job duties.
