Job summary

State of Nebraska, in Lincoln, seeks an Engineer - Air Modeling & Permitting to evaluate air pollution control systems and draft air quality permits under the Clean Air Act. You will review permit applications and advise on technical requirements, interacting with applicants and the public.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s in Engineering and pass the FE exam within a year. Travel and occasional outdoor work may be required; a driver’s license is needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • FE exam within one year of employment.
  • Valid driver’s license or ability to provide independent transportation.
  • Ability to travel overnight as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Review pre-construction or operating permit applications and determine compliance with regulations.
  • Prepare air quality permit documents with appropriate requirements and conditions.
  • Review draft permits for accuracy, consistency and content; provide guidance to writers.
  • Advise regulated community on technical permit requirements and present at public hearings.
  • Assist in regulatory planning and development of the permit program.
