Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Night Shift Boiler Plant Operator for Cooley Dickinson Hospital, Inc. This onsite role maintains heating plant equipment, performs repairs, reads gauges, and logs readings to ensure safe operation. Responsibilities

  • Maintain, operate, repair and clean power plant equipment.
  • Observe operation of the plant and make necessary adjustments.
  • Respond to emergencies and equipment breakdowns.
  • Read meters and gauges at specified intervals to insure proper readings.
  • Keep power plant logs by recording readings, steam and power generated, fuel usage and maintenance.
  • Test boiler water and returns.
  • Add chemicals as needed for proper balance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of a high-pressure heating plant. Performs repairs to boilers and reassembles if required. Repairs pipes, paints and removes equipment for repair or replacement, as required.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma Engineering required
  • Massachusetts Department of Fire Service 3rd Class Engineer required
  • Massachusetts Department of Public Safety and Inspections Division Hoisting Engineer preferred
  • Engineering experience 2-3 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must possess the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and select a course of action regarding equipment failures and repair.
  • Knowledgeable in general engineering principles and practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Strong mathematical and planning skills.
