Pinellas County seeks a collaborative, results-driven Professional Engineer to manage our Transportation Engineering Section’s projects and people. This is not just a design role — it’s a chance to lead, mentor, and deliver projects that matter.

Base Pay Range

$92,622.00/yr - $130,000.00/yr

Responsibilities
  • A team of engineers and project managers.
  • Delivery of roadway, intersection, trail, and sidewalk projects.
  • Coordination of complex projects with agencies and stakeholders.
  • Strategic planning, budgeting, and timely project execution.

Qualifications You’ll Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Florida PE license (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • 8 years in public works/transportation projects with at least 3 in supervision.
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and teams.

Preferred Skills: CIP planning/budgeting, PTOE credential, ITS/ATMS projects, and Civil 3D proficiency.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices and the ability to apply those principles.
  • Knowledge of modern professional engineering practices and procedures as they apply to public works, construction or utilities.
  • Knowledge of modern developments, current literature and sources of information in engineering.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures and the ability to plan and direct the work of engineers, contractors, technicians, and clerical personnel.
  • Knowledge of professional and technical leadership techniques, recordkeeping, and report writing.
  • Knowledge of scheduling and budgeting principals.
  • Skill in the use of engineering instruments and equipment and ability to utilize computer applications for engineering design, drafting, mapping, plan preparation and scheduling.
  • Ability to apply computer applications and software.
  • Ability to plan, assign, motivate, train and supervise technical employees.
  • Ability to give technical and professional review to a wide variety and large volume of engineering plans, specifications and related documents.
