Job summary

Knorr Brake Company in Westminster, MD is hiring a Software Engineer to ensure software fulfills contractual commitments. You will work in a hybrid role, familiar with embedded control systems, and contribute to IEEE/EN documentation, verification, and cross-team collaboration.

The position requires executing the full software development life cycle, designing efficient code, and interfacing with customers to meet requirements and timelines.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Software Engineer will have the primarily responsibility of providing assurance that the software portion of a project fulfills commitments for the software product:

• As specified in the customer and end user’s technical specifications and contract documents;
• In compliance with project-specific, software related plans;
• Consistent with Knorr’s internal process requirements.

The software product may be produced by Knorr Brake for brake systems, Merak NA for HVAC system, or IFE NA for door systems.

Must be familiar with embedded control system environments typical in Knorr hardware systems.

A secondary responsibility is to provide support for format and correctness of software design documents required for submittal to the customer:

• Meet IEEE or EN document content requirements
• Are correctly formatted for maximum readability
• Consistent with Knorr’s existing document templates

Further requirements include:

• Executing full lifecycle software development including executing Knorr's full SQA
• Programming well-designed, testable, efficient code
• Producing specifications and determine operational feasibility
• Supporting testing in and out of house
• Working with customers and other engineering groups to complete work on time and to requirements

• Maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment and ensure the compliance with company's rules and policies.
• Must be able to comply with quality, product safety, and HSE rules, guidelines and regulations. Be energy conscious, if applicable.
• Must understand and comply with applicable standards. ( i.e.: ISO 9001, ISO 22163, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, AAR, and CMMI).
