Job summary

M.C. Dean, Inc. is seeking an Engineer 1 within the Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit to design, engineer, integrate, operate, and maintain electronic security services.

The role covers intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, and video surveillance for federal, local, and commercial customers. You will work with Systems Engineers to install and configure networks per IDPs, develop tools, and provide documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering or IT field.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain high‑performance computer configurations and related systems.
  • Develop system management tools with senior staff.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support users.
  • Maintain system documentation and generate weekly/monthly reports.
  • Stay current on industry trends and products (4–6 hours/week).
  • Assist installation and configuration according to IDP requirements.
  • Research equipment and resolve issues during installation and testing.
  • Collaborate with Design to address design problems in the cycle.
  • Suggest process improvements to reduce costs for future installs.
  • Provide systems support for a large HPC center and manage interfaces.

Role Summary

We are seeking an Engineer 1 to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. As part of the SES strategic business unit, you will design, engineer, integrate, operate, and maintain electronic security services including intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audiovisual, IT systems, perimeter defense, and command and control systems for federal, local, and commercial customers across high‑growth markets.

Responsibilities
  • The administration and maintenance of high‑performance computer configurations and other systems and peripherals as part of system integration projects, performance analyses, problem resolution, and system security initiatives.
  • Work with senior staff to develop system management tools.
  • Collaborate with other company departments to provide comprehensive support for commercial, corporate, and governmental users.
  • Maintain system documentation and records, generating weekly and monthly summary status reports.
  • Spend 4–6 hours per week staying current on industry trends and available products and services.
  • Perform staging and setup as needed for project support and self‑instruction.
  • Work closely with Systems Engineers to install and configure networks based on an Installation Design Package (IDP) that satisfies the customer's needs.
  • Research equipment from various manufacturers to resolve technical issues during installation and testing.
  • Collaborate with the Design Department to identify and correct design problems during the design cycle.
  • Suggest process improvements and cost savings to aid the Implementation Department for future installs.
  • Provide systems support for a large‑scale high‑performance computing center, including installation and management of computer systems, workstations, operating systems, peripherals, and interfaces; monitor system usage and evaluate performance against defined goals and maintain system documentation.
  • Provide designs for automation systems, including materials lists, user guideline documents, and manuals for custom programs and applications.
Qualifications

Clearance/Citizen: Applicants must be U.S. citizens and subject to a government security investigation. Ability to obtain a Public Trust is required.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. 0+ years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity with provision of SE services for physical security systems and IT solutions.
