Job summary

Ameren Missouri is seeking a Chemical Engineer to monitor plant chemistry across sites, perform QC reviews, and help develop standards for design, operation, testing and maintenance of chemical systems.

The role requires a BS in Chemical Engineering, field-based work, and potential outages. Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills are essential; PE license is preferred and travel to multiple sites is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Preferred: AVEVA PI System, Boiler Water, Chemical injection, clarifiers, deionized water, RO, TOC.
  • Professional Engineer license preferred.
  • Experience in water treatment and power plant chemistry preferred; new graduates considered.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor performance of chemical systems at sites across the Ameren Missouri system.
  • Provide quality control review of plant chemistry equipment, processes, and programs.
  • Participate on teams to develop standards for design, operation, testing, and maintenance of plant chemical systems.
  • Perform inspections of chemical and plant equipment; troubleshoot system problems.
  • Collaborate with Ameren personnel and outside organizations to improve reliability.
  • Prepare procedures, specifications, and drawings for operating or modifying equipment.
  • Coordinate work of contractors and Ameren personnel; support major capital projects.

Preferred skills: AVEVA PI System, Boiler Water, Chemical injection, clarifiers, deionized water, Reverse Osmosis, Total Organic Carbon (TOC). Previous experience in water treatment and power plant chemistry preferred, however new graduates will be considered. Professional Engineer (P.E.) License preferred.**This position will be 100% in the field. Working from home will be available upon request depending on energy center needs that day. The position may require outage and emergency response off shift.**In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:Proficiency in the use of PC-based spreadsheets, graphics, word processing, and database software preferred. Must be able to operate an automobile. Must be able to enter and work in tight, enclosed spaces. Must be able to wear a respirator. Must be able to pass a physical exam required for participation on a Hazardous Materials Response Team. Excellent analytical, communication, human relations, leadership, and customer service skills required. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.*Technical career path level depends upon applicant's credentials.Compensation Range:$71,100.00 - $172,200.00* This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant’s credentials.At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered.
