Job summary

Global Cellulose Fibers in Port Wentworth, GA is seeking a Project Engineer – Mechanical & Capital Projects to perform basic engineering calculations and support capital and non-capital project delivery to improve mill safety and reliability.

You will collaborate with experienced engineers, prepare reports and layouts, and work with Operations, Maintenance and Purchasing to achieve project objectives while adhering to safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with hourly employees, salaried leaders, vendors, contractors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned.
  • Support capital and non-capital project delivery process and help define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals, mill safety, reliability, and improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with more experienced engineers to provide follow-up and engineering assistance on defined problems.
  • Prepare or assist in preparing reports, graphs, planning layouts, and summaries designed to communicate project progress or results.
  • Successfully perform non-complex and routine assignments while developing engineering fundamentals.
  • Understand and execute work in a manner consistent with safety procedures and practices with some guidance.
  • Utilize basic communication tools such as memos, email, and verbal to update others on progress of assignments when prompted.
  • Develop relationships with teams and process areas as needed with each assignment.
  • Interact with other mill departments such as Operations, Maintenance, Purchasing, etc. to achieve assignment objectives.

About The Role:

Multiple factors, including individual experience, skills, and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.
