Job summary

Job Summary

The Engineer will support the development of project scopes and cost estimates for crude oil and water gathering projects. Working alongside experienced estimators, project managers, engineers, and field personnel, this role assists with interpreting project drawings, developing project scopes, evaluation of constructability for projects, and preparing project cost estimates.

This position provides an opportunity to build technical knowledge of oil and gas facilities, construction methods, project controls, and estimating practices while contributing to the successful execution of capital projects. The primary objective is to develop and utilize the skills necessary to create accurate, complete, and buildable project estimates that support safe and profitable project execution.

Primary Job Function
  • Develop complete and accurate project estimates from conceptual scopes.
  • Analyze conceptual scopes and drawings (if applicable) for potential scope gaps and constructability.
  • Prepare labor build-ups using production rates, craft hours, crew compositions, and historical data.
  • Identify risks, assumptions, exclusions, and prepare proposal clarifications.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineering, and field teams to validate installation methods and labor assumptions.
  • Support added value engineering and alternative construction approaches.
  • Prepare estimate summaries, cost breakdowns, and pricing sheets for internal review.
  • Maintain cost data, unit rates, and historical production information.
  • Provide complete estimate logic, quantities, and assumptions during project handoff.
  • Manage multiple scopes and communicate status updates to leadership.
  • Ensure estimate files, calculations, and supporting documents are organized and traceable.

Required Skills

Experience
  • 0-3 years of engineering, construction, project management, estimating, or related experience.
  • Internship, co-op, or project experience in engineering, construction, manufacturing, energy, or industrial environments preferred.
  • Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level
  • The Associate Engineer level requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and 0-3 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Engineer level requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and 3-6 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Senior Engineer level requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and 6-10 years of relevant job related experience

  • Usually, normal office working conditions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
