Job summary

Job Title: Engineer

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Job Summary:

Providing products to the market with targeted release dates by performing engineering duties which include planning, designing, and re-engineering products from start to finish.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Full development and assist with development of new concepts, new designs and modification/revisions to existing designs by meeting aggressive targeted/scheduled release dates set by management.
  • Become an engineering expert in our industry.
  • Develops plan for meeting expectations in areas of manufacturability, cost targets, lead time reduction efforts, usage of common parts in all new products and current design components.
  • Designs and engineers’ products that meet company’s core strengths and competencies.
  • Designs in compliance with industry specific safety and liability standards
  • Evaluate existing designs for adequacy or for engineering changes and determine the cost to implement approved changes.
  • Develop prototype testing process to minimize warranty claims.
  • Creates designs that function in a safe manner with optimum production cost and reliability.
  • Prepare and review Bills of Material, drawings, specifications, etc., for accuracy, clarity, and constructability.
  • Provide necessary design information for coordination of engineering and design efforts including safety decals and operating instructions.
  • Deliver complete and accurate detailed design drawings as required for fabrication, assembly and installation that meet project requirements and applicable Codes and Standards.
  • Participates in prototype build and follow up during fabrication including jigs and fixtures.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Knowledgeable of QRM Manufacturing Process in low to medium quantity production rate.
  • Excellent Design problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Applications
  • Experienced or training in 3D modeling required, Autodesk Inventor preferred.
  • Experience in FEA preferred.
  • Strong communications and interpersonal capabilities
  • Smart and exceptional organizational skills, detail oriented, and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Integrity that is above reproach
