Job summary

HayMax Hotels in Aspen, Colorado seeks an organized Engineer I to manage daily engineering operations at our boutique property. You will perform maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and related equipment to uphold luxury standards and guest comfort.

This full-time, non-exempt role pays $27–$31/hour DOE and offers Medical/Dental/Vision, retirement, paid time off, and hotel discounts. You will coordinate with vendors, supervise routine maintenance, and safeguard safety and quality

Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance work on HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and drywall.
  • Manage day-to-day operations and ensure hotel quality standards.
  • Order supplies, work with vendors, and manage budgets.
  • Replace lights and complete maintenance projects during shifts.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance and safety standards per hotel policies.
  • Create annual maintenance plans and checklists for inspections.
  • Assist in hiring, training, and scheduling maintenance staff.
  • Provide prompt service to room calls and guest requests.
  • Monitor and maintain guest room and mechanical maintenance tasks.
  • Check sump pumps and attend to seasonal outdoor maintenance.

Job Description:

We seek an exceptionally organized and innovative individual to join our team as an Engineer I. As part of your responsibilities, you will be tasked for the day-to-day operations of the engineering department.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Performs maintenance work at the hotel. This will include maintenance of equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and dry wall repair.
  • Manage day to day operations and ensuring hotel quality standards are met.
  • Responsible for ordering supplies and equipment, meeting budget expectations, working with external vendors, and ensuring quality work is performed.
  • Look for maintenance projects throughout scheduled shifts and complete them without assistance when possible. Replace all lights in hallways, stairs and sidewalks as needed.
  • Supervise, perform and document preventative maintenance program according to Hotel standards. Knowledge of OSHA standards and application. Practice Safety Standards at all times.
  • Create annual maintenance plans for the Hotel. Develop and maintain checklists to ensure property inspections are timely, accurate and thorough.
  • Participate in hiring, training and scheduling of maintenance staff.
  • Provide quick and professional service to all room calls, particularly when the guest is present.
  • Significant responsibility of oversight of proactively performing daily, weekly, monthly and annual guest room and mechanical preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Check sump pumps in the laundry room to ensure they are working properly.
  • Water hotel flowerbeds and pots during the summer season as necessary.
  • Maintain/repair all fireplaces in guest rooms and public areas.
  • Ensure the snow melt boiler is working properly.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Attention to detail to ensure cleanliness and tidiness of guest rooms and public areas.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Good communication skills to interact with guests and fellow team members.
  • Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy objects when necessary.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or high school equivalent preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience with vendor management, negotiation, and guest experience. Management and executing of events and personalized experiences.
