Job summary

PACCAR Engine Company in Columbus, Mississippi seeks an experienced engineer to analyze engine performance data, modify test equipment, and ensure products meet design limits. The role requires hands-on work with testing hardware, development of SOPs, and collaboration across product engineering and test teams.

Responsibilities include optimizing test practices, mentoring shop staff, and driving upgrade projects to enhance measurement and throughput.

Qualifications

• BS degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent.
• 4+ years of engine testing hardware and software experience.
• Diesel engine maintenance, design and test knowledge.
• Understanding of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• Instrumentation techniques for test systems (temp, flow, torque, pressure).
• Project management skills required.
• Excel VBA/macros for test cells.
• Pro/Engineer CAD experience a plus.
• MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Create efficient test practices for a dynamic development environment.
• Recommend and implement improved testing strategies.
• Develop and maintain area Standard Work; provide training to shop personnel.
• Document SOPs for the test area; ensure safe work environment.
• Analyze test results; collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive improvements.
• Maintain high up-time of test equipment and lead problem-solving to improve First Time Yield.
• Lead upgrade projects to improve system performance and throughput.
• Support design of new test fixtures and protocols for engine products.
• Schedule, analyze, and report compliance testing to ensure design performance.
• Provide technical guidance for Engine Diagnostics and Test Cell maintenance.
