Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an Assembly Technician to perform assembly and disassembly of engines and driven equipment, build and overhaul assemblies, and balance rotating parts. You will follow technical instructions, inspect with CMM, and ensure quality through precise measurement and calibration.

The role requires a High School diploma, 1+ year of tool experience, and the ability to work overtime and any shift. Medical, retirement, and other benefits are provided.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience using power tools and other equipment to perform troubleshooting, repair, and installation.
  • Understanding of engineering schematics and blueprints.
  • Experience using general repair tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Willingness to work any shift.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, tear down, reassemble, and rework complete nozzle assemblies, sub-assemblies, and accessory units.
  • Utilize turbomachinery knowledge and operational instructions, blueprints, and Creo model sketches.
  • Disassemble, rebuild, and rework all nozzle Solar product lines and stages.
  • Perform assemblies and subassemblies to Caterpillar standards.
  • Use Flow System equipment for airflow nozzle products and assemblies.
  • Perform CMM inspection of nozzle sub-assemblies.
  • Take measurements with calipers, height gauges, dial indicators and VDG.
  • Conduct visual quality checks of nozzle segments and assemblies.

About the Role

Perform assembly and disassembly of various engines and their assemblies, accessory units , and driven equipment . Build complete engines and driven equipment prior to and after testing. Perform overhaul of engines, packages, and assemblies. Perform balancing of rotating parts and assemblies.

What You Will Do
  • Assemble, tear down, reassemble, and rework complete nozzle assemblies, sub-assemblies, and accessory units

  • Utilizing a working knowledge of turbomachinery products and working from electronic operational instruction sheets, blueprints, written and/or oral instructions, Creo model sketches and photographs

  • Disassemble, rebuild, and rework all nozzle Solar product lines and stages

  • Perform assemblies, and subassemblies to Solar standards

  • Airflow nozzle products and assemblies with the use of Flow System equipment

  • Perform CMM inspection of nozzle sub-assemblies

  • Perform measurement with the use of calipers, height gages, dial indicators and VDG (volume displacement gages)

  • Conduct visual quality checks of nozzle segments and assemblies

What You Have

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of mechanical experience on Turbine equipment, installation, repair, and maintenance

  • Familiar with nozzle manufacturing process

  • CMM inspection experience

  • Airflow test experience

  • Experience in to use measurement devices such as: calipers, height gages, dial indicators and VDG (volume displacement gages)

Summary Pay Range

$24.15 – $41.86
