Job summary

Calallen Independent School District is seeking a Substitute Teacher to support assigned campuses in Corpus Christi, Texas. You will implement lesson plans and supervise students under the direction of the absent teacher and campus staff.

This position requires reliability, strong classroom management, and effective communication with teachers, administrators, and parents as needed, with orientation to district policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Education/Certification: High school diploma/GED, some college hours, or associate degree
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
• Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Experience: Experience managing groups of students and providing instruction, or related work experience.
• Employment/Orientation/Professional Requirements: Completion of substitute orientation and background checks per district policies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain prompt and regular attendance for each substitute assignment.
• Follow district policies and employee handbook updates.
• Observe and assist students, and support teachers with lesson plans.
• Be available to cover absences at various campuses, with a minimum participation requirement.
• Adhere to dress standards and communicate effectively with staff and students.
• Support classroom management and student safety, including behavior monitoring.
• Leave notes and complete substitute reports as required by the campus.
