Qualifications

• Must be 20 years of age or older.
• Maintain valid New Jersey Passaic County Substitute Certification.
• Completion of 30 semester-hour credits at an accredited college or university.
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, instructional content, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning.
• Strong commitment to providing every student a supportive and structured learning environment, based around high expectations for student learning and success.
• Criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction consistent with district programs of study and curriculum.
• Implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
• Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students in a positive learning environment.
• Display ethical and professional behavior when working with students, parents, staff and partners.
• Provide a nurturing classroom climate that encourages student responsibility using positive motivation and effective strategies.
• Develop effective classroom procedures and maintain appropriate student behavior.
• Evaluate and grade classwork and tests in a timely fashion with feedback to students.
• Maintain records and submit required reports within deadlines.
• Submit lesson plans in the approved format to the Principal or designee.
• Assess pupils according to district testing policy; use results to plan instruction and inform curriculum; work with faculty to improve student achievement.
• Employ instructional methods and materials appropriate for stated objectives including critical thinking and creativity.
• Assist with curriculum development and selection of materials.
• Assist with IEPs for selected students.
• Ensure safety and health of all students and follow health and safety protocols.
• Maintain copies of records and forms; communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Confers with students and parents to foster constructive relationships; participate in staff and committee meetings.
• Grow professionally per New Jersey standards; participate in development and collaborate with colleagues.
