Job summary

South Washington County Schools seeks a Lunchroom/Recess Paraprofessional to supervise elementary students during lunch and play periods. The role supports positive behavior, safety, and a constructive learning environment, collaborating with kitchen staff and school personnel.

The position requires a high school diploma, basic computer skills, and the ability to supervise up to 130 children. Competitive benefits are offered, with hours about 3 per day on a school calendar schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required or better.
• Demonstrates teamwork, confidentiality, and communication skills.
• Ability to work well with children ages 5–12 and manage groups up to 130.
• Experience with basic computer functions (email, Word) is expected.
• Ability to pass Paraprofessional fitness for duty tests.

Responsibilities

• Supervise large groups of students during lunch and recess.
• Enforce classroom and school behavioral expectations consistently.
• Build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Escort students to lunchrooms, restrooms, and nurse's office as needed.
• Provide conflict resolution and on-site supervision.
• Assist with cleanup and routine cafeteria duties.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming environment for all students.
