Job summary

The University of Arizona in Tucson is seeking a Bartender to join the Catering Department. You will greet guests, discuss beverage preferences, recommend menu items and prepare drinks to order, using proper equipment and ingredients.

This role requires an engaging personality, efficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to handle cash and balance the till. The position offers full benefits and a starting hourly rate in a competitive pay range.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant bartending or beverage service experience.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests, determine beverage preferences, and take drink orders.
• Review event details prior to event start time to ensure planning and product is in place and prepared for all needs as outlined on event orders.
• Select and mix ingredients, garnish glasses, and serve beverages to guests.
• Check identification to ensure guests are of legal age.
• Participate in developing new cocktail recipes.
• Take inventory and order supplies to ensure bars are well stocked.
• Adhere to all food safety and quality regulations.
• Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons.
• Maintain a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment.
• Ensure safe handling of food, alcohol and equipment.
• Handle customer complaints professionally and resolve issues.
• Eye for detail and knowledge of drink mixing tools and techniques.
