Job summary

Carriage Square Rehab and Healthcare Center in Saint Joseph, MO is seeking an Activity Assistant to support the Activity Director in implementing a quality activity program and motivating residents. This full-time role emphasizes teamwork and resident engagement.

Responsibilities include assisting residents with activities, recording attendance, leading groups, coordinating arts and crafts, reviewing activity care plans, and supporting events and community outings to enhance resident life.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or the equivalent.
• Must be able to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
• Must acquire a minimum of ten (10) hours in-service training per year, relating to recreation/activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents to, from, and with activities to enable maximum participation
• Record activity attendance and participation in both group and individual programs
• Lead assigned groups and individual activities
• Assist in maintaining volunteer records
• Coordinate arts and crafts programs for all levels of residents
• Review resident activity care plans and assist in providing activities consistent with the plan
• Assist in seasonal and holiday decorating of the facility
• Provide each resident with a current activity calendar
• Assist in maintaining an on-going program for resident birthday recognition
• Participate in community outings and special events as requested
• Escort residents to outside appointments, as needed
• Help stock and monitor resident store, as needed
• Report resident incidents and accidents to the nurse immediately
• Report personal injuries to the Office Manager, or designee
• Report any suspected or observed resident abuse to the Administrator, or designee
• Observe and report needed repairs and service issues
• Attend all departmental meetings and/or inservices as required
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Activity Director

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
