Qualifications

• Minimum of 18 credit hours in the major teaching area; alternatives may be considered by the Board.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Plans a program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
• Prepares for classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Encourages students to maintain appropriate classroom behavior.
• Guides learning toward curriculum goals and objectives.
• Uses varied instructional techniques and media suited to students' needs.
• Implements district philosophy and instructional goals through instruction.
• Assesses student progress regularly and provides reports as required.
• Seeks district specialist assistance as needed.
• Maintains safety and protects students, equipment, and facilities.
• Keeps accurate records and enforces school policies fairly.
• Is available to students and parents outside instructional hours.
• Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Attends staff meetings and participates on committees as required.
