Job summary

Glassboard, a product development company based in Indianapolis, seeks an Engagement Lead to run complex programs for large clients. You will bridge client expectations with product teams, directing program work while leaders own technical decisions. This role also shapes delivery practices across Glassboard.

You will guide discovery to development, manage budgets, and mentor project managers to ensure timely, high-quality outcomes with a transparent, collaborative process.

Overview

The Engagement Lead runs the most complex programs for our largest clients, pairing enterprise-level structure and visibility with the nimble approach Glassboard is known for. The role serves as the link between clients and our product development teams, directing program work while our technical leads own technical decisions and manage their teams. Beyond individual programs, it also helps shape the delivery practices used across the company.

This role suits an experienced technical program manager from hardware, software, or product development consulting who enjoys both leading programs and shaping how a growing team works. The position offers direct access to leadership, real influence over how we operate, and a varied mix of technical challenges.

Client and Program Leadership
  • Lead client status meetings and executive updates, framing decisions on priorities and tradeoffs
  • Guide a smooth transition from discovery into full product development
  • Build statements of work, estimates, and plans, drawing on the experts closest to the work
  • Translate each client's processes and tools into a workflow our teams can deliver against
  • Align clients and team leads on objectives, outcomes, and acceptance criteria as programs evolve
  • Coordinate staffing, dependencies, and lead times across teams
  • Manage scope changes, monthly retainer budgets, and forecasts
  • Flag schedule impacts early, present recovery options, and document decisions
  • Strengthen long-term client partnerships through dependable delivery, transparency, and foresight
Process and Systems
  • Advance our delivery playbook by combining best practices, lessons learned, and team expertise
  • Use the playbook to guide Agile, phase-gate, or blended methods for each program
  • Shape how we approach discovery and architecture phases with enterprise clients
  • Monitor portfolio health, partnering with project managers to keep programs on track
  • Improve internal tools for planning, resource forecasting, and reporting
  • Coach project managers in risk management, client communication, and decision-making

Required Qualifications
  • 6+ years in program management, including 3+ years leading technical product programs
  • Client-facing program leadership, presenting directly to client executives
  • Proven ability to navigate large organizations' processes and governance while keeping teams nimble
  • Hands-on Agile experience, from sprint planning and backlogs to iterative delivery
  • Working knowledge of project tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps
  • Meticulous organization, candid communication, and a record of guiding clients to successful outcomes
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience or certification
  • Project Management Professional or Certified ScrumMaster certification
  • Background in scaling project management processes and standards
  • Physical product development experience in consumer, industrial, automotive, or medical markets
  • Familiarity with regulated development, such as medical design controls or compliance testing
Employment Details
  • Full-time, exempt position
  • Reports to the Chief Operating Officer
  • On-site at our Indianapolis office, with occasional local client travel
