Job summary

HNTB is seeking a communications intern in Ohio to support the Communications and Engagement team with marketing, public involvement, and administrative activities. You will gain hands-on experience creating content, supporting events, and developing multimedia materials for transportation and infrastructure projects affecting communities across Ohio.

The role involves visiting project sites, capturing employee stories, and helping produce storytelling packages that align with client/HNTB brand

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent plus enrolled in a related undergraduate or graduate program.
• Currently enrolled in a college/university pursuing Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design, English, or related field.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience creating content for social media, school organizations, or publications.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud applications incl. InDesign/Illustrator/Photoshop.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Interest in community engagement and infrastructure-related communications.
• Willing to travel.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing communication materials including newsletters, presentations, fact sheets, social media content, and public engagement materials.
• Support the creation of visual content including graphics, photography, short videos, and other digital media assets.
• Visit project sites and company events to capture photos, video footage, and employee stories for internal/external communications.
• Conduct interviews with project team members and employee-owners; create storytelling packages highlighting projects and community impact.
• Help maintain and organize communication resources, photo libraries, and project content.
• Research communication trends and community engagement strategies to support team initiatives.
• Collaborate with communications, marketing, and project teams on campaigns and special projects.
