Job summary

Windsor Public Schools seeks a Temporary Paraeducator to assist certified staff in meeting instructional goals at Sage Park Middle School. You will support reading, language arts, mathematics, and computer instruction, both individually and in small groups, under supervision of licensed staff.

You will help with classroom preparations, assessments, documentation of student progress, and supervision during meals, bus, playground, and field trips, contributing to a safe, inclusive learning

Qualifications

• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform arithmetic operations as needed to assist students.
• Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Google Docs, Google Sheets).
• Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
• Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with special needs.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
• Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Work individually and in small groups to reinforce learning and implement programs.
• Assist in administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Assist in classroom preparations and strategies to reinforce instructional materials and skills.
• Document student learning and performance.
• Support classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions and ensure safety.
• Supervise non-instructional areas (lunch, bus duty, playground, study hall, etc.).
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Prepare and distribute educational materials as needed.
• Assist with parent contact to foster involvement; support IEP processes as needed.
