Job summary

Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN seeks an ENG - Reliability Engineer at Senior Specialist level to lead RAMI analyses and asset-management initiatives.

You will prepare RAMI/RCM work products, coordinate with engineering partners, and drive proactive maintenance strategies across structures, systems and components.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited engineering/physical science degree plus experience.
  • GPA: Bachelor's 3.0, Master's 3.3, PhD 3.5; after 4 years GPA may be superseded.
  • Requires DOE Q clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement RAMI reliability recommendations for equipment and systems.
  • Provide RAMI- and RAMI-based support to Production and Operations staff.
  • Gather and analyze RAMI data to assess reliability, availability, maintainability and inspectability.
  • Review technical docs for RAMI features and lifecycle data sheets.
  • Lead integration of RAMI deliverables across projects and plant.

  • Provides reliability based technical support to Production, Operations, Infrastructure Management and Craft personnel
  • Gathers, reviews, and analyzes data concerning facility or equipment reliability, availability, maintainability, and inspectability (RAMI) specifications
  • Review technical documents that depict or define reliability, accessibility, maintainability or inspectability features of systems, equipment and facilities including, technical basis documentation, manuals and data-sheets
  • Lead role in integration of project and plant RAMI deliverables
  • Development of proactive maintenance strategies for structures, systems and components
  • Equipment Failure Mode Identification and Root Cause Failure Analysis
  • Trend Analysis of structures, systems, and components
  • Defines, develops, implements, revises, and monitors Asset Management Plan(s) for structures, systems and components
  • Effective deployment of condition based, predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems before failure occurrence
  • Completion and presentation of both RAMI and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) analyses to internal and external engineering partners. Analysis to include labor distributions, critical spares identification, proactive asset management plans, failure rates MTBF, MTTR and life-cycle cost analysis.

Minimum Job Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering/Physical Science [Chemistry, Physics, or related] from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico, the Washington Accord, or the list of substantially equivalent as documented by ABET AND 7 years of relevant experience. OR MS in Engineering /Physical science and 5 years of relevant experience. OR PhD in Engineering /Physical science and 2 years of relevant experience.
  • There is a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement up to 4 years post-graduation at time of offer and confirmed by transcript. Beyond four years from graduation, engineering experience will supersede GPA as a requirement for hire.
    • 3.0/4.0 minimum cumulative GPA for Bachelor's degree
    • 3.3 minimum cumulative GPA for Master's degree
    • 3.5 minimum cumulative GPA for Ph.D.
Preferred Job Requirements
  • BS in Electrical Engineering discipline with 2+ years of Reliability Engineering experience or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering discipline with 2+ years of Reliability Engineering experience
  • Experience in reading & understanding electrical drawings and schematics
  • Knowledge of common failure modes and maintenance strategies of electrical components
  • Ability to work independently as well as work within a team environment and promote collaboration
