Job summary

City of Fort Collins is seeking a Supervisor, Enforcement (Natural Areas Lead Ranger) to oversee a ranger team, conduct patrols across 50,000+ acres of natural areas, and coordinate with partner agencies for safety and resource protection.

This full-time, non-exempt position involves planning, training, policy interpretation, and leadership to ensure effective enforcement and public safety across 50+ parks and 150+ miles of trails in Larimer County.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree or equivalent experience may be preferred.
  • Experience in public safety, enforcement, or related field is preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and pass background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and monitor staff assignments; hire, train, evaluate, and terminate employees as needed.
  • Develop and implement training plans and SOPs; ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Maintain records and reports; support court and enforcement actions as needed.
  • Provide training to staff on safety, operations, and incident response.
  • Coordinate with external agencies during emergencies and special events.
  • Lead field training for newly hired staff and oversee equipment maintenance.
