Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking an Enforcement Attorney III in Austin to provide legal representation and counsel in enforcement matters. The attorney will handle a docket of cases, draft notices, and advise staff on sanctions under state and federal law.

The role requires independent hearings representation from docketing to completion, with routine training and guidance to HHSC staff on hearing processes. Telework may be available while onsite at the Austin office.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in Texas and in good standing.
• Administrative law experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to analyze complex legal issues and advise program staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal representation and counsel in proceedings under the Administrative Procedures Act.
• Prepare cases for trial and represent HHSC at hearings.
• Advise program staff on legal sufficiency of proposed sanctions.
