Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Energy & Utility Analyst Intern in Orlando to perform engineering tasks, correct and update designs, and support lead engineers on project duties. The role varies by market and involves hands-on design work and problem-solving in a real-world setting.

Interns gain exposure to consulting across critical infrastructure, with opportunities for mentorship, professional development, and participation in our benefits program. Travel is expected at about 5% of the time.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program related to the department work.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
  • Prior internship or consulting experience preferred.
  • Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated leadership and self-motivation.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States full-time without future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures to design updates.
  • Assist lead engineers with project duties and design corrections.
  • Contribute to market-specific assignments and project work.

Our Energy & Utility Analyst Interns are responsible for performing tasks requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures. This includes standard design of engineering systems, correcting and updating designs, assisting lead engineers with various project duties, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Pursuit of Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Accounting or related degree from an accredited program.

  • Currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a post-secondary education and/or technical certificate program in a field related to the work done in the department.

  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.

  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.

  • Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
