Job summary

H2M architects + engineers is seeking a Safety Manager for our Melville, NY office. This role supports electric transmission and distribution projects, directing safety programs to promote an incident-free work environment.

The ideal candidate will interpret regulations, lead safety meetings, and enforce standards across contractors. Travel to job sites is required; strong communication and training abilities are essential.

Qualifications

• Occupational safety/health degree or equivalent combination of training and related experience.
• Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local and Company regulations.
• Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures.

Responsibilities

• Interpret health and safety regulations.
• Conduct safety meetings as needed and warranted by program requirements.
• Interacts with contractors to ensure a consistent understanding and enforcement of regulatory requirements.
• Ensure that objectives and strategies are maintained to have an effective safety program that complies with regulations.
• Conduct comprehensive on-site safety assessments of projects and monitor corrective actions.
• Builds a culture of voluntary, proactive safety among workers.
• Perform periodic inspections of site, equipment and work practices; identify hazards and suggest mitigations.
• Plan and implement programs to train employees in work site safety practices.
• Review accident documentation to ensure records are complete and corrective actions are implemented.
• Participate in accident investigations and prepare investigative reports.
