About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and sharp-witted Energy Trader with a specific focus on renewable energy commodities and power markets. Based in Queenstown, Eastern Cape , this role involves actively participating in wholesale energy markets, optimizing trading strategies, and managing risk associated with renewable energy generation and consumption. You will leverage market data, predictive analytics, and your understanding of power flows to maximize profitability while ensuring grid stability and supply reliability. Key Responsibilities

• Execute trading strategies for renewable energy power, certificates, and associated derivatives in various energy markets.
• Monitor real-time market conditions, news, and weather forecasts to identify trading opportunities and risks.
• Develop and implement short-term and long-term trading strategies to optimize portfolio value.
• Analyze market data, trends, and price movements to inform trading decisions.
• Manage trading positions and ensure adherence to risk management policies and limits.
• Collaborate with asset managers, forecasters, and risk analysts to align trading activities with generation and demand profiles.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant market rules, regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with market participants, brokers, and counterparties.
• Participate in market development initiatives and provide insights on market structure and trading mechanisms.
• Generate daily/weekly trading reports and performance analyses.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
