Epyr Energy team in Paris seeks an AI & Software Development Intern to help build and improve internal tools used in production, with Python-based services, data pipelines, dashboards, and AI-enabled workflows.
You will work on real production constraints, contribute to pragmatic AI use cases, and collaborate with operators to accelerate decision-making in a climate-tech context.
Join Epyr’s Energy team to build AI-powered software and production tools that help operate, analyze, and scale industrial decarbonization in the real world.
Epyr is a French climate-tech company on a mission to decarbonize industrial heat — one of the largest, hardest-to-abate sources of CO₂ emissions in Europe.
We develop next-generation Thermal Energy Storage systems that convert low-carbon electricity into reliable, high-temperature industrial heat. Our ambition is simple: make clean heat cheaper, more flexible, and more scalable than fossil fuels.
Founded by experienced entrepreneurs and energy/climate leaders, Epyr operates at the intersection of:
Energy markets — spot, intraday, flexibility, grid services
Industrial systems — high-temperature processes, reliability constraints, deployment at scale
Software & quantitative modeling — optimization, simulation, pricing, dispatch algorithms
Climate impact — direct contribution to European industrial decarbonization
We are building for people who want to solve real-world physics, economics, and systems problems.
The Energy team relies on software to run real analyses, support operational decisions, and make the team faster every week.
As an intern, your mission will be tech-first: build and improve internal tools used in a professional environment, connected to real production systems and live operational needs. You will also help identify where AI can create leverage for the team — from analysis automation to workflow acceleration and better knowledge access.
Depending on your profile and the team’s priorities, your work may include:
Build and improve internal software tools used by the Energy team in day-to-day work
Contribute to AI-powered workflows, assistants, automations, or analysis tools that make the team more efficient
Work on Python-based services, notebooks, data pipelines, APIs, dashboards, and internal applications
Connect prototypes to real production constraints: reliability, usability, documentation, maintainability, and deployment
Investigate AI tools and use cases, test them pragmatically, and turn the useful ones into team workflows
Support energy-related analyses when needed, without being expected to be the “energy market expert”
This is not a generic “energy transition internship.” It is a software-builder role inside a deeptech company, with real users, real data, and real production constraints.
You will get:
Real ownership — your tools can become part of the team’s daily operating system
Production exposure — work beyond toy prototypes, with reliability, deployment, and maintainability in mind
AI leverage — identify and build practical AI use cases that save time and improve decision quality
High learning density — software, data, AI, energy systems, and climate-tech scale-up
Close collaboration with operators — direct feedback from the Energy team and other internal users
A strong potential path to full-time — for exceptional interns, the internship can convert into a permanent role
You are likely a final-year student or gap-year student from a top engineering school or quantitative university program, such as École Polytechnique, Mines Paris, CentraleSupélec, Ponts,
You have:
Strong quantitative and analytical skills
Solid foundations in applied mathematics, physics, engineering, economics, energy systems, or computer science
Good Python skills, or the ability to become productive quickly
A structured problem-solving approach
Strong written and oral communication in French and English
Genuine interest in energy transition, industrial systems, and climate impact
Experience with electricity markets, optimization, operations research, statistics, or time-series analysis
Knowledge of power systems, renewables, storage, flexibility, or energy regulation
Experience with Python data libraries, optimization packages, or simulation tools
Previous internship in energy, strategy consulting, trading, quantitative research, industrial engineering, or climate tech
Taste for messy real-world problems where the best answer is not in the textbook
We value people who are:
Rigorous without being slow
Autonomous without being isolated
Curious enough to challenge assumptions
Pragmatic enough to ship useful work
Comfortable with ambiguity and fast iteration
Excited by a demanding, mission-driven team environment
What success looks like
By the end of the internship, a strong candidate will have:
Built or improved software tools used by the Energy team
Turned at least one AI use case into a practical workflow or prototype
Shipped work that is documented, maintainable, and usable by non-developers
Developed a strong understanding of how software and AI can support industrial decarbonization operations
Earned the trust to take on larger responsibilities — potentially as a full-time team member
