Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in the electric utility or power industry.
• 8+ years with emphasis on system design, planning, and project management.
• 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
• PE license or eligibility within 1 year of hire (NC).
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Strong knowledge of RUS, NESC, NES and related codes.
• Proficiency with GIS, SCADA, and OMS.
• Strong MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop long-range plans, load forecasts, and construction work plans.
• Oversee design of new facilities and upgrades while ensuring code compliance (NESC/NEC).
• Manage engineering projects from substations to transmission lines within budget and schedule.
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technical staff.
• Provide technical oversight for electrical system projects.
• Oversee system modeling, analysis, and protection coordination.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state standards and RUS requirements.
• Develop and manage engineering budgets and contracts for materials/construction.
• Coordinate with Operations, regulators, and other utilities for seamless execution.
• Serve as a primary contact for member inquiries on power quality.
