Job summary

World Bank Group in Washington, DC seeks an Extended Term Consultant in Energy Modeling to lead power systems planning tasks across regions. The role focuses on least-cost generation planning, transmission expansion, and renewable integration, with a strong emphasis on analytical rigor and client engagement.

You will mentor junior staff, manage a team of consultants, and collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver scalable, data-driven insights that support policy and regulation.

Qualifications

• Masters/PhD in power systems, OR energy economics, or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience with planning optimization software and load-flow tools.
• Proficiency in GAMS/MATLAB/Python/C++ or similar languages.
• Knowledge of French and/or Spanish is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop least-cost generation plans, transmission expansion and load-flow studies.
• Conduct renewable energy integration studies and financial analysis.
• Manage a team of consultants and coordinate with regional teams.
• Collaborate with internal and external groups to implement options.
• Provide training and mentor junior staff.
