As a Level 2 Technician, you will transition from foundational skills to hands-on field leadership, advanced troubleshooting, and system diagnostics. You will work independently, mentor Level 1 Technicians, and contribute to field service excellence. This role is a key step toward technical mastery and career progression.

Key Responsibilities

System Service & Technical Operations

  • Perform intermediate-level troubleshooting and diagnostics on inverters, BMS (Battery Management Systems), PCS (Power Conversion Systems), and EV chargers.
  • Conduct firmware updates, inverter resets, and system configuration adjustments.
  • Diagnose and correct arc faults, ground faults, and insulation resistance issues.
  • Assist in performing breaker coordination, power factor correction, and load balancing.
  • Work with SCADA monitoring platforms to assess system health and ensure remote connectivity functionality.

Advanced Electrical Testing & Safety Compliance

  • Perform insulation resistance testing, IV curve tracing, and power quality analysis.
  • Implement NFPA 70E-compliant work practices, including arc flash protection and shock hazard mitigation.
  • Utilize multimeters, thermal cameras, and advanced electrical diagnostic tools to assess system performance.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC (National Electrical Code), and manufacturer standards.
  • Serve as a mentor for Level 1 Technicians, assisting with training and skill development.
  • Guide junior technicians in interpreting schematics, performing safe electrical work, and improving troubleshooting skills.
  • Provide on-site safety leadership, ensuring proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and safe work procedures.
  • Assist supervisors in work planning, job site coordination, and technician task assignments.

Documentation & Communication

  • Complete detailed service reports, documenting findings, test results, and corrective actions.
  • Provide accurate updates to supervisors, site managers, and clients regarding service activities.
  • Maintain organized records of system configurations, firmware updates, and maintenance history.

Required Certifications & Training

  • High School Diploma/GED (or equivalent technical education)
  • OSHA 30-Hour Safety Training (must be completed within 30 days)
  • NFPA 70E Intermediate Electrical Safety Certification
  • Completion of Level 1 Technician training requirements

  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting PV, BESS, or EV charging systems

Bonus Qualifications (Highly Valued, but Not Required)

  • NABCEP PV Commissioning & Maintenance Specialist (PVCMS) Certification
  • EVITP (Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program) Certification
