Job summary

Louisiana State University seeks a collaborative and strategic leader to serve as the Associate Director of Energy Research Development & Demonstration within the LSU Energy Institute. This role advances large-scale, use-inspired energy research and leads externally funded projects, coordinated research programs, and demonstration-scale activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience in an energy-related or relevant field AND experience developing or leading large, multidisciplinary externally funded research projects, strong record of program development, team building, and project coordination, and excellent organizational, facilitation, and communication skills.
• Ph.D in energy-related or relevant field and experience in energy project development, technology demonstration, or applied research translation. Experience with major federal funding agencies (e.g., NSF, DOE, DOD). Familiarity with university research administration and proposal development processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the RD&D Core Area and oversee quarterly meetings and activities.
• Coordinate campus-wide energy demonstrations and position LSU as a hub for applied energy demonstration.
• Support faculty in organizing large externally funded proposals.
• Document historical energy research and coordinate reporting and metrics. (30%)
• Identify and pursue major externally funded opportunities with executives and research leaders.
• Scan funding calls from federal, state, and private sponsors.
• Convene faculty teams and support competitive proposals preparation.
• Provide strategic and logistical support for complex proposal development. (30%)
• Assist in philanthropic funding development in coordination with the LSU Foundation. Align investments with research priorities. (15%)
• Assist in Energy Innovation Fund project administration, track progress and outcomes. (10%)
• Coordinate energy research activities across campus with the Office of Research & Economic Development. (10%)
• Other duties as assigned. (5%)
