Job summary

City of Santa Cruz is seeking a Project Manager II to lead mid‑to‑advanced level project planning and management of energy, public works, and water initiatives. You will oversee budgeting, bidding, contracts, reporting, and coordination with internal/external stakeholders to deliver complex city projects on schedule and within constraints.

This role advances city goals for energy efficiency, resilience, and sustainable infrastructure, requiring strong analytical, communication, and leadership

Qualifications

• Education requirements as stated: bachelor’s degree in related field and 3 years of PM experience.
• Alternative: high school diploma and 6 years of PM coordination/management experience.
• Experience in grant management and contract administration is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical and administrative leadership to project teams and coordinates with City departments and external stakeholders.
• Oversees project budgets, funding, bidding, contracts, and lifecycle from conception to completion.
• Develops grant proposals, tracks funding and expenditures, and writes reports.
