About the Position

Energy Exemplar is see king a m otivated and detail-oriented Analyst – Solution Modeling Services to join our growing Professional Services team. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is eager to work d irectly with energy market participants and gain hands-on experience with power systems modeling and analysis usin g indust ry-leading tools such as PLEXOS, Aurora, and Adapt2.

In this role, you will support the delivery of modeling solutions for clients across North America, including utilities, system operators, independent power producers, and energy traders. You will collaborate with internal teams and clients to configure models, run simulations, interpret results, and help solve real-world energy challenges related to generation planning, market participation, and system operations.

  • Support the configuration, testing, and delivery of energy market models using PLEXOS and related tools.
  • Assist in building and validating datasets for production cost modeling, capacity expansion, and market forecasting studies.
  • Perform scenario analysis and interpret model results to support business decisions for clients.
  • Collaborate with senior team members to understand client needs and tailor model configurations accordingly.
  • Contribute to documentation, training materials, and reusable modeling templates.
  • Conduct research into ISO/RTO market rules, fuel pricing, renewable integration, and other market factors.
  • Work on client-facing modeling projects across ERCOT, CAISO, PJM, MISO, and other ISOs.
  • Develop basic scripts (e.g., in Python or SQL) to automate data preprocessing, scenario generation, or reporting tasks.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate them into functional solution models.
  • Assist in the creation and configuration of solution prototypes, models, and documentation to support client implementations.
  • Analyze complex data sets to identify patterns, trends, and insights that inform solution design and optimization.
  • Support pre-sales and implementation activities by providing input on technical feasibility, scope estimation, and best practices.
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, and Customer Success teams to ensure solutions align with technical capabilities and customer expectations.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve solution modeling processes, automation, and scalability.

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy Systems, Economics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics or a related technical field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in energy modeling, grid planning, or energy consulting (internships included).
  • Familiarity with power markets, ISO/RTO operations, or utility planning processes.
  • Exposure to tools such as PLEXOS, Aurora, PSSE, PROMOD, or similar modeling platforms a plus.
  • Basic experience with Python or SQL for data analysis or automation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, especially in presenting technical findings.
  • Eagerness to learn, collaborate, and grow in a fast-paced professional services environment.
