ISO New England is seeking an IMM analyst to support market power mitigation rules and analyze energy market data across generation technologies—from fossil fuels to emerging clean-energy resources like storage. You will gain insights into capital and operating costs while engaging with project owners and market participants.

The role involves maintaining cost models, evaluating inputs, developing financial simulations, and contributing to market reports and tools that enhance market oversight.

Formación

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in economics, finance, engineering, business, or related field.
• Interest in wholesale electricity markets or electric utility industry.
• Strong quantitative and data analysis skills.
• Proficiency with Excel and programming languages (SAS, SQL); Python/R a plus.
• Ability to collaborate, meet tight deadlines, and communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsabilidades

• Maintain and enhance production cost models to determine benchmarks for energy market and mitigation.
• Assess benchmark inputs such as heat rates and variable O&M costs.
• Develop financial and engineering models to estimate marginal and opportunity costs.
• Perform mitigation activities and participate in on-call rotation (weekends possible).
• Prepare and refine market reports and analytical tools for market oversight.
• Evaluate capacity market offers by review of documents and analyses.
• Support development and testing of analytic tools for market mitigation and tariff compliance.
• Design and run screening tools to identify non-compliance and uncompetitive behavior.
• Identify market participant behavior warranting further investigation.
